MB
Technologies is majority-owned by Royal Bafokeng Holdings
(RBH), which manages and oversees a significant portfolio
of the Royal Bafokeng Nation’s (RBN) investments.
RBH’s
investment in MB Technologies forms part of its mandate to
build a diversified portfolio of commercial assets for the
Royal Bafokeng Nation. The primary role of RBH is to grow
the nation’s asset base to ensure that the social entities
of the RBN can continue to deliver benefits to community members
on a sustainable basis.
To
date, the Royal Bafokeng Nation – through its various
corporate agencies – has undertaken and overseen infrastructural
development (roads, water reticulation, sanitation, electricity
and street lights) valued at more than R2 billion.
Some
49 schools have been built, as well as a sports stadium, municipal
buildings, and the Bafokeng Plaza shopping mall. Informal
settlements have been formalized as part of these initiatives.
RBH’s
investment in MB Technologies has made it the largest black-owned
unlisted IT distributor group in South Africa. This has in
turn given MB Technologies’ customers the ability to
maximise their Black Economic Empowerment credentials in technology
purchases.
